| St Margaret's Wives Group as formed 55 years ago. Originally called 'Young Wives' it was formed at a time when the norm was for women to be at home all day with their children, with very few social opportunities outside the home. At its inception it was run with much formality, with committees, regular speakers and a brigade of 'aunties' supplied by the older ladies of the church to take care of the young children and babies.
Today we are less formal and as we are an older group of ladies have dropped the 'Young' from our name. We meet every week and chat over a cup of tea in the church hall. As many of our members now live alone, a walk to the church hall in the fresh air means a change of scenery and a chance to talk about some problem or other. Every other week there is an activity such as a quiz, a theatre trip or a meal out; occasionally we have a speaker.
We have an outing in the summer- this year we visited Blenheim Palace- and in the summer months try to get out and enjoy local attractions. At Christmas we have a meal out together and a trip to see a panto. The last meeting of the year is always carols and mince pies!
>We meet in the Church Hall on Wednesdays at 2pm. If you would like more information please call Vicki Francis on 558698.
