| At the beginning of the school summer holidays we run a 3 day event for those aged over 65. The first and third day have similar structures: after a cup of coffee we have an outside speaker on matters of local interest. In the last 2 years we have had speakers on Hadleigh Country Park, Local History, Essex Radio and the Parks and Gardens of Southend. There is then a cooked meal for lunch and the afternoon is taken up with a variety of activities such as: craft; games; quiz; music and carpet bowls.
On the second day we arrange a coach outing to a place of interest and a packed lunch is provided.
This has proved to be a very popular event. It is advertised, with the details, in June and it is necessary to book your place.
Those who come to this event are also invited to a Christmas Dinner held at the end of December / beginning of January.
